The Internal Audit is a managerial control which functions includes:
- Measuring and evaluating the effectiveness of internal control system
- Carry out objective assessment of evidence to provide an independent opinion regarding a process, system or other subject matter
At the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI) the Resident Internal Auditor is the head and reports administratively to the Executive Director but technically under the Chief Internal Auditor of Ahmadu Bello University Zaria.
The Objective of the Internal Audit is to
- Determine whether financial and operating information is accurate
- Ensure that risks to the organization are identified and minimized
- Ensure external regulation and acceptable internal policies and procedures are followed
- Ensure satisfactory operating criteria are met
- Ensure resources are used efficiently and economically
- Ensure the organization’s objectives are achieved
